The character for “WI” is formed by a large circle with two vertical lines and two horizontal lines.
The vertical lines represent KAMU (the latent realm), and the horizontal lines represent AMA (the phenomenal realm). Where these two intersect as “TO” (a cross, signifying integration), the two lines ‘split’ and a ‘door opens.’ That place, or that “event,” is imbued with the core intention of being sacred and pure.
Furthermore, it holds the meaning of being the source of life. It is by no means a coincidence that the shape of the “Torii,” the entrance gate to Japanese Shinto shrines, bears a striking resemblance to the Katakamuna character “WI.” This indicates that “WI” symbolizes a sacred place or fundamental function where the latent and phenomenal realms intersect, new dimensions open, and life itself originates.
