Where A ME describes the level of protons, neutrons, and electrons — the primary gatherings of elementary particles — KU NI describes the next level: atoms (a nucleus of protons and neutrons surrounded by electrons, freely configured and stably settled) and molecules (atoms freely combining and settling into the enormous variety of molecular structures that make up matter as we encounter it).
In Katakamuna Verse 09, KU NI connects to TO KO TA CHI without the particle NO — in contrast to A ME NO TO KO TA CHI. This distinction is structural: A ME NO TO KO TA CHI means the intrinsic qualities and laws that belong to A ME (possession, attribution). KU NI TO KO TA CHI — without NO — means that KU NI itself is TO KO TA CHI: the free settling of atoms and molecules into their configurations is not merely described by physical laws — it is the direct expression of TO KO TA CHI at the atomic and molecular level. The process and the structural condition are identical.
The modern Japanese word kuni (国, country, land) preserves this structure: a defined territory in which things freely settle and are stably organised. Not coincidental.
